Lesser Worms - Buffalo Beetle Larvae
Lesser Worms - Buffalo Beetle Larvae
Lesser Worms - Perfect Feeder Insects and Bioactive Custodians
Lesser Worms, the larvae of cleaner beetles (buffalo beetles), are an excellent choice for feeding a wide variety of small exotic pets, including Dart frogs, Praying Mantises, spider slings, and more. Their protein-rich, soft-bodied nature makes them easy to digest and highly nutritious for insectivores. Measuring about 1/2 inch in length, these wiggly worms have a distinctive wobble and quick movements that stimulate even picky eaters to feed aggressively.
Key Benefits:
- Nutritious and Digestible: With a softer shell than regular mealworms, Lesser Worms are easier to digest for small pets.
- Versatile Feeder: Perfect for small reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates such as Dart frogs, mantises, and slings.
- Stimulating Movement: Their wobbling motion entices pets to feed eagerly, making them ideal for hunters with keen instincts.
- Bioactive and Roach Colony Compatible: Lesser Worms thrive in bioactive setups as custodians, helping to break down organic material. They also integrate seamlessly into roach colonies, working well with species like Dubias, Discoids, and Hissers by transforming into cleaner beetles that keep the enclosure clean and odor-free.
Easy to Culture and Store:
Lesser Worms are incredibly easy to culture, thriving in oats and feeding on moisture-rich foods such as potatoes, apples, and other fruits and vegetables. For longer-term storage, refrigeration is an effective option:
- Slows Life Cycle: Refrigeration significantly delays their metamorphosis into beetles.
- Proper Container: Store them in a ventilated container with a tight lid to prevent escapes.
- Temperature Control: Keep the fridge temperature between 42°F and 55°F.
- Feeding Before Use: Allow the worms to acclimate to room temperature for about a day before feeding to ensure optimal activity and feeding appeal.
Packaging and Extras:
Every order includes a 10% overcount to ensure you receive plenty of worms. Lesser Worms are shipped securely in a plastic or deli cup with a lid, ready for feeding or culturing.
Whether you’re caring for small exotics, maintaining a bioactive enclosure, or supporting your roach colony, Lesser Worms are a versatile and invaluable addition to your setup. Easy to manage, highly nutritious, and engaging for your pets, these worms are a must-have for reptile and invertebrate keepers.
